At Dorchester Pond in Darien, Connecticut, the design unfolds as a quiet acknowledgement of the home’s enduring spirit and the stories embedded in its walls. As we made our first steps on this property, we were drawn to the homes gentle light, its measured proportions, and the lived-in history that lingered in every room. Rather than replacing what was there, we sought to honour and enhance. Allowing the original architecture and the subtle poetry of family life to guide each decision. This approach extended to a carefully considered addition. Designed to mirror the scale, character, and rhythm of the existing home; as though it had always belonged. The result is a residence that feels inherently familiar yet gracefully renewed, where old and new sit in quiet harmony and spaces breathe with warmth and spirit.
Much of the interiors were shaped through an intuitive understanding of place and material, embracing a serene palette that evokes both comfort and sophistication. Enduring furnishings and timeworn antiques were woven together with thoughtfully introduced elements, reinforcing a sense of continuity throughout the home. Each of the pieces were selected for their ability to age beautifully and resonate with the stories to unfold. In every corner, there is a feeling of ease and refinement a home that feels deeply personal, gently layered, and thoughtfully poised for the chapters yet to come.
