Built in 1906 in the foothills of Bedford, New York, this former carriage house once formed part of the larger Scarlett Hall estate and retains many of its original architectural details. The renovation was guided by a desire to create a quiet weekend retreat, approached with sensitivity to the building’s history and sense of place.

Earthy, restrained tones establish a calm foundation throughout, layered with bespoke and carefully sourced vintage pieces that lend depth and character. British wallpapers were introduced as a subtle nod to the property’s storied past, while a thoughtful reconfiguration of the primary suite allowed for the addition of a cast-iron bathtub and a custom-designed walk-in wardrobe.

More than a century on, the carriage house has been gently renewed for contemporary living, its purpose redefined while preserving the enduring spirit that continues to live within its walls.
